Welcome to the brunch of your dreams! Picture the scene: it’s a sunny Saturday morning in Bangkok and you just need those perfect eggs to start your weekend off right. Well, we’ve got your back: look no further than Toby’s on Sukhumvit soi 38! This bright little café in Thong Lohas been an institution in the brunch scene since it opened 2 years ago. They offer all-day dinning but their breakfast menuis what sets them apart.
The first item on their brunch menu is the Egg Mikado, one of their signature dishes: two poached eggs with home-cured salmon and orange hollandaise sauce on sourdough bread. It’s hard to say if the highlight is the thick salmon or the incredible hollandaise sauce. In any case, this is a dish that you shouldn’t miss.
If avocado is more your jam, the Smashed Avocado—avocado on sourdough bread with two poached eggs, cherry tomatoes, chorizo and baby spinach—or the Complicated Avocado—poached egg, smashed avocado, sweet corn salsa, jalapeño, beetroot, feta and goat cheese purée on sourdough bread—will satisfy your cravings.
The prettiest dish we tried is by far the Ricotta and Fig on Toast: beautifully presented, sprinkled with pomegranate, fresh dill and pine nuts, and drizzled with honey.
You can customise any of the dishes and add ingredients like feta, avocado, bacon, and their amazing hollandaise sauce.
If you’re more of a sweet breakfast person, look no further than the Crispy French Toast, made with brioche buns.
For drinks, Toby’s offers cold-pressed juices, smoothies and great coffee, hot or iced. The Coconut Water Espresso caught our attention, but a simple latte is just as satisfying. On your way out, you will find their patisserie selection, which includes an amazing chocolate tart and delicious brownies.
So if lots of natural light and incredible eggs are your thing, we are certain you will love Toby’s as much as we do.
