Located in Kennedy Town, Chino is no ordinary Mexican restaurant. They use Japanese ingredients and Japanese cooking techniques in their dishes, bringing distinct flavours of the two cultures.
The fact that their dishes are mostly tapas-sized or individual portions, it is great for people who are having dinner, or just having a few drinks with some snacks on the side.
Their staff is very friendly, and happy to recommend dishes to your liking. One of the dishes that we absolutely loved was their Scallop and Uni Tostada. They were really fresh and sweet, their soft and silky texture really complimented the crispy tortilla chip on the bottom. Eating just one of these tostadas just isn’t enough! Another must have is their Katifi Shrimp with Butter Lettuce and Pickled Salsa. The dish itself was really vibrant, and its complex flavours are meant to die for. Even if the katifi shrimp was deep fried, it was well balanced with the salsa which made it not very oily as you bite into it. It also has a slight kick to it, which elevates the whole dish to another dimension.
The only problem may be the price, it is slightly more expensive for such food portions. However, Chino is definitely worth going back to from time to time.
