We’ve got a handful of spots that we like in Le Marais (3 ème, 4ème), and Mi-va-mi is one of our absolute favourites lunch spots. That says a lot for the food, considering the restaurant itself lacks most qualities of a typical Food Detective Approved eatery. It’s cheap and located in the wrong place (crowded and touristic), and the fact that they present their dishes at the entrance is like the biggest no-go we accepted this year. Oh yeah, and it’s on La Rue des Rosiers aka the only street in the world where restaurant owners fight right in the streets (open war) to make sure you’ll queue in the right line.
Mi-va-mi is a weird restaurant from the outside, but fantastic form the inside. You can either order from the street or sit-and-eat. The atmosphere is a mixture between an American dinner and a typical Israeli street food spot.
The must eat in here are Falafels, hummus with pita bread and their mixed platters. La Martine is certainly their most famous one since it combines all tastes and flavours in one single dish. The portions are good, they manage to do a good value for money deal. If you have not noticed yet, you’ll soon find out. You are in the most Jewish restaurant of Paris and this is what makes Mi-va-mi, Mi-va-mi!
