Newly opened in October 2017, KYUU by Shunsui is a sister restaurant of Kappo Shunsui, the restaurant achieved the Michelin Tokyo Guide’s Bib Gourmand fame from 2015 to 2017. KYUU uses the freshest and best quality ingredients that are sourced from Japan.
The culinary team at KYUU by Shunsui is helmed by Chef Issey Araki, formerly from Kappo Shunsui and one Michelin Starred Askaka Tantei in Tokyo, Japan.
A ten-course omakase sashimi and robatayaki course menu is available from its opening till 9pm whereby an extensive a la carte menu is available after 9pm till closing.
The dining experience at KYUU is exceptionally well in terms of food, service and ambience which has great likelihood to have returning customers after their first visit.
The omakase started off with some seasonal appetizers followed by an awesome platter of sashimi which includes seafood gems like uni sea urchin, several types of fish, prawns and scallops. The Robatayaki Charcoal Grill is next up with each item served with signature homemade sauces. This added so much uniqueness to the curated experience in every dish. All the grills served are highly tantalizing but we favor in particularly the Miso Grilled Eggplant, Fruit Tomato and Kagoshima A4 Wagyu Beef.
Be totally pampered by KYUU when you get to the rice course of the menu. The Chef will chant “yoisho, yoisho” until we give a stop. What happened was he ladled huge scoops of Ikura Salmon Roes repeatedly onto the Hokkaido Rice till they overflowed. These ikura roes tastes extra sweet and fragrant as they are pre-soaked in a specially prepared dashi.
An extensive list of beverages, including craft beers, umeshu, shochu, highballs, wines (red, white and sparkling), champagne and close to 50 different labels of sake are waiting for you.
This is a great place for any celebration or simply when you need to indulge or bring your date.
